Squire's Castle is a shell of a building located in the North Chagrin Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks in Willoughby Hills, Ohio. It was built in the 1890s by Feargus B. Squire for use as the gatekeeper's house for his future country estate, which was never built. Squire, an executive with the Standard Oil Company, bought the surrounding 525 acres of land but never completed the project. Squire sold the property in 1922 and the Cleveland Metroparks acquired it in 1925.
Photography has been a life long passion of mine. I have had a camera in my hands since I was in third grade and even have an antique camera collection with a few dating back to the 1890's. I feel every photograph should tell a story and capture a unique or memorable moment in time. My goal as a photographer is to capture that unique moment in time and be able to tell that story successfully with a photograph. As an engineer working in the aerospace world, everything has to be perfect and exacting. My approach to photography is no different. Paul, I love your capture of this. I made a side trip to see and photograph this, and there was a local play scene being photographed for publicity purposes...with a cast of 30 actors. So, the insides were all I could photograph of this very cool scene.
