Description
At one of our recent local car shows, they sponsored a burnout contest. He who had the best burn out would win $400. Clearly not enough money to replace the tires you would have just melted to the ground but I guess, you get bragging rights. Or, in this case a blown engine. As I normally do when I take my car to a car show, I lug around my photo equipment to take pictures of the cars and the surrounding area, people and events. This burn out contest has been going on for several years now and it draws more and more people to it every year. This year was no different other than this 1969 Z28 Camaro blowing up its engine. I just happened to be in the right place at the exact right time as the engine "popped" and a fireball came billowing out of the bottom of the car. I snapped a couple more photos but they weren't nearly as bright and spectacular as this first image. He kept going not understanding he had a problem until I ran up to the window and started yelling "fire" and told him to cut off the engine. That's when the fun started. It was almost like a Laurel and Hardy movie with people running in every direction to try and find a fire extinguisher. The fire was soon put out, the car pushed to the side and most likely won't be back running on the street again for a while.....
