While visiting the Ringling family home, called CA' D'ZAN in Sarasota I couldn't help to notice the colors, lines and details in the back of this wall and in the floor tile. I situated the chairs exactly in the center of the patio and took as symmetrical picture as I could. CA' D'ZAN is a 25 year effort by John and Mable Ringling.
The Ringlings had been traveling throughout Europe for nearly 25 years, acquiring circus acts and art. They both greatly admired the architectural style of Venice’s Ducal Palace, Ca’ d’Oro and the Grunwald Hotel. When they decided to build a home in Sarasota, Florida, where they had been winter residents for a number of years, The Ringlings took these palazzi as their inspiration – and Sarasota Bay as their Grand Canal. The building was started in 1924 and completed at the end of 1926 at a cost of $1.5 million
